About nine hours from Frisco, so the first day is the road. Spring break is a different island than a family week in May.

Best time to visit

When to go, written in our own words. Highlighted months are the ones we would book first.

Jan	Quiet and cool. A long drive for a walk on the beach.
Feb	Still quiet. The water is cold.
Mar	Spring break weeks are packed and not this family plan. Other weeks are milder.
Apr	Warmer. Confirm whether the water park is open before you count that ticket.
May	A month we would book. Warm, after the break, before the deepest heat.
Jun	Hot and busy. The beach morning is the plan.
Jul	The hot month. Shade and a half day at the water park if it is open.
Aug	Same heat. Hurricane season is underway. Check the week.
Sep	The other month we would book when the Gulf is calm. Rates ease.
Oct	Cooler. The beach is still the point for people who like an empty strand.
Nov	A long drive for a quiet island. Fine if that is what you wanted.
Dec	Off season. Do not expect the water park.

Is Schlitterbahn always open?

No. The plan says to drop that ticket when the park is closed for the season.
